Billionaire tech mogul and former Facebook president Sean Parker, 35, has pledged $24 million toward a campaign to develop a cure for allergies.
The funds will establish an allergy research center at the Stanford University School of Medicine. Leading the center will be Kari Nadeau, an associate professor of allergies and immunology.
Parker has been hospitalized at least 14 times in the last five or six years because of allergies to foods including peanuts, tree nuts and shellfish “I understand first hand how difficult it is to manage this,” Parker said.
The goal of the Sean N. Parker Center for Allergy Research is to find a cure for allergy sufferers that requires just one or two treatments.
